I am so excited that it is PBJ & Jazz time again! The first artist for the winter/spring season is this Saturday, October 15  at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a. m at the Lincoln Theater (so excited they added another showtime!). We have been going for a few years and support the Jazz Arts Group no matter where they are – Ft. Hayes, Topiary Park, and of course the renovated Lincoln Theater.

PBJ & Jazz offers a morning full of jazz music for little ones and their families for only $5 per person or a maximum of $20 per family (meaning that is the highest you’re family will be charged).  Kids get to learn about jazz music, get their boogie on, and also enjoy a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookie, and juice – we love going. Learn a little more about our past experiences here: 2009/2010 Series.

Some things I have learned over the years:

  • Get there early if you want good seats.
  • Bring cash and pay at the door outside the ballroom.
  • The show in the ballroom on the second floor. There is an elevator straight ahead of the stairs when you walk in to your right.
  • Kids like to sit in the middle and dance, and the younger ones enjoy meandering around – so keep a close eye on them.
  • Please help your child with their juice and food so it doesn’t get spilled everywhere. On that note, please be courteous and clean up after your child, especially if they spill their drink.
  • Parking is across the street or around the corner of the Lincoln Theater and it is FREE!
  • It gets crowded the later you get, so prepare to stand if you are running behind.
  • Before you go, check out some jazz music CDs or books about jazz music at the library to share with your children. Explain the instruments that might be played and the sound they make. My kids love music and love learning about it.
  • The ballroom is huge, but if you can, ditch the stroller and just bring in the bucket or wear baby.
